Lamar Paris, the sole commissioner of Union County, received HRWC’s highest award for environmental protection at a banquet on Friday, March 12, 2010 at Brasstown Valley Resort in Young Harris, Ga. The Holman Water Quality Stewardship Award is given to the person or group that has done the most to facilitate water quality improvements in the upper Hiwassee River watershed. Paris praised HRWC as an organization that knows how to work with local governments to help them strike a good balance between balance between economic growth and water quality protection. HRWC wishes to thank each of you that donated items for the silent auction, sponsored and/or attended the Holman Water Quality Stewardship Award Banquet & Silent Auction at Brasstown Valley Resort. Because of you and all of our dedicated staff and volunteers, we all enjoyed a fabulous evening of food and friendship in a nice atmosphere. There were 135 people in attendance that this year’s event, a 28% increase over 2009! |
