Twenty-two species of birds were
spotted by 21 participants on the first bird watch outing held on January 3rd. The outing
was led by long-time HRWC board member and Young Harris
College professor, Brenda Hull; although several other very
knowledgeable folks also helped the novices in the group!
Waterfowl species observed that morning around Lake Chatuge
included the common loon, hooded merganser, and bufflehead;
other species of birds included an osprey, a broad-winged
hawk, belted kingfisher, a golden-crowned kinglet, gulls,
nuthatches, and woodpeckers. |
